Fuse Box Replacement in Lambs Green
Open countryside surrounds Lambs Green, a small hamlet in Rusper parish to the west of Crawley. Homes out here are more likely to rely on an earth rod in the garden than on an earth supplied by the network. We replace fuse boxes with that in mind, at a fixed price.

Cottages, houses and farm buildings
Lambs Green is a handful of homes rather than a village street, set among the fields and lanes west of Crawley. Housing in a rural hamlet like this tends to be a mix of older cottages, detached houses and converted or working farm buildings, each with its own supply arrangement and its own history of alterations.
Because every property is different, we ask for photos of the meter, the board and the earthing arrangement before quoting. That tells us whether the supply arrives overhead or underground, whether there is an earth rod, and roughly how many circuits the new board needs to serve.

TT earthing and why the RCD matters more
A TT earthing system is common where rural properties are fed by overhead lines: instead of taking an earth from the supply cable, the house is earthed through a metal rod in the ground. Ground conditions vary, so the resistance of that rod can be high. A fault might then not draw enough current to trip a breaker, leaving the RCD to do the protecting.
On a TT supply we measure the earth rod's resistance, check its connection and cover, and make sure every circuit sits behind an RCD. Where the reading is poor, we tell you and explain the options. Exposed overhead supplies also benefit from the Type 2 surge protection that comes with every board.
- Earth rod resistance measured
- Every circuit behind an RCD
- Earth connection inspected
- Surge protection included
Reaching Lambs Green
Setting out from Brighton & Hove, we head through Crawley and into the lanes to the west. Even a single remote property pays nothing towards the journey. Send us photos, plus a note on finding the house if satnav struggles. For a fault, phone us and we will endeavour to be with you that day.

Asked in Lambs Green
Call for a straight answer from an installer, not a call centre.
Call 0333 360 8691Look near the meter for the main earthing cable. If it connects to the supplier's cable or a terminal on their equipment, your earth comes from the network. If it leaves the house to a rod in the ground, often under a small cover outside, you have a TT system. A photo of the area around the meter usually lets us tell you.
We will not leave the installation in an unsafe state. Often an additional or longer rod brings the reading down to an acceptable level, and sometimes the existing rod is simply corroded or its clamp has worked loose. We explain the result and the remedy before doing anything further, so there are no surprises when you get the bill.
Often, yes, but a heat pump is a large load, so UK Power Networks normally has to be told about it, and on some rural supplies the capacity needs checking first. When we fit your board we can keep a spare way and record your main fuse rating and earthing, so the heat pump installer has what they need.
