Village beside the A24

Fuse Box Replacement in Dial Post

Dial Post sits right beside the A24 in West Grinstead parish, north east of Storrington, so our vans reach it easily. Supplies out in the country are exposed to storms and network switching, so as well as a fixed price for the fuse box change, you get Type 2 surge protection on every board we fit.

The village and its edges

Village houses and farm country homes

Dial Post is a compact village with farmland around it, and its homes range from older cottages to twentieth century houses, with scattered properties further out along the lanes. That spread means we meet everything here, from rewireable fuse boxes to fairly recent boards that simply lack RCD protection on some circuits, or have no surge protection at all.

Whatever the age, the job follows the same pattern. We isolate the supply, remove the old board, fit the new one, then inspect and test every circuit in the house before switching back on. An Electrical Installation Certificate is emailed to you inside 48 hours, and we handle the Part P notification to Building Control.

  • Old fuse boxes replaced
  • Partial RCD boards upgraded
  • Whole house inspected and tested

Power cuts, surges and a sensible board

Rural supplies are more exposed to bad weather than town ones, with falling branches and lightning near overhead lines causing faults and brief interruptions. The power cut itself is a matter for UK Power Networks, and you can report one free by calling 105. What happens inside your home, when the supply flickers or comes back on, depends on your own installation.

The Type 2 surge protector built into all our boards limits the voltage spikes caused by network switching and nearby lightning, which protects boilers, routers and appliance electronics. If your board is otherwise sound, we can retrofit surge protection on its own for £165. It cannot stop a direct strike, but it handles the far more common transient spikes.

  • Report power cuts on 105
  • Type 2 surge protection included
  • Surge retrofit for £165
  • Boiler and router electronics protected

Straight up the A24 to Dial Post

Dial Post is easier to reach than most villages in our area: west from Brighton & Hove to Washington, then north on the A24 past Ashington. You are never charged for the drive. We price the job from texted photos of the board, while a fault that has cut your power is a reason to ring, and we aim to be there the same day.

Dial Post questions

Still not sure?

Call for a straight answer from an installer, not a call centre.

Call 0333 360 8691

Switch off all the circuit breakers, reset the RCD, then switch the breakers back on one at a time. The one that trips it points to the circuit with the fault, often an outdoor light or socket that has let in water. Leave that one off and call us. An RCD that still will not reset with every breaker switched off needs a call to us.

If the whole road or village is off, call 105, the free power cut number, and UK Power Networks will deal with it. If only your home is off, check whether your RCD or main switch has tripped. If it will not reset, or the board smells hot or looks scorched, switch off at the main switch if it is safe to do so and call us.

Very little. Most surge protection devices have a small indicator window that shows when the device has absorbed a large surge and needs replacing. We point it out when we hand over the board. It is worth a glance after a big storm, and it is checked as part of any future EICR.
