Rewireable fuses are not dangerous simply because they are old, but they give no protection against electric shock of the kind an RCD provides, and fuse wire is easily replaced with the wrong rating. The most affordable route to that protection starts at £425 with a dual RCD board, and the wiring gets tested while we are there.
