Living beside an ancient church
Botolphs is little more than a church, a few houses and the farmland around them, so every home here is an individual case. Older rural properties have often had their electrics extended rather than renewed, leaving an old board doing a job it was never designed for, with more circuits and heavier loads than when it was first fitted.
We replace the board, renew the meter tails if they are tired or undersized, and test every circuit, including any that run out to garages or garden buildings. Before leaving we explain the results to you, and 48 hours is the longest you will wait for the certificate to arrive by email.
- Overloaded old boards replaced
- Tired meter tails renewed
- Outbuilding circuits included
- Certificate emailed inside 48 hours

A river valley floor and your consumer unit
The Adur valley floor is low, flat land, and properties close to the river can face high water and lingering damp in a wet winter. A consumer unit fitted low on a wall, or in an outbuilding prone to condensation, is more likely to suffer corrosion and nuisance tripping, and in the worst case to be damaged by water.
When we fit a new board we look at whether its position makes sense. Raising it, or moving it to a drier part of the house, adds £250 when done with a new board. Every board we fit has the non-combustible metal enclosure current regulations require, and we check outdoor circuits for water getting in.
- Board height reviewed for flood risk
- Relocation with a new board, add £250
- Non-combustible metal enclosure
- Outdoor circuits checked for damp
Botolphs, up the valley from Shoreham
Getting to Botolphs takes us little time. We head west on the A27 to Shoreham and follow the valley road north towards Bramber, with the river beside us most of the way. Send pictures of the board by text, we fix the price, and the day is up to you. For urgent faults, ring us during our opening hours; same day visits are often possible.

Asked in Botolphs
Call for a straight answer from an installer, not a call centre.
Call 0333 360 8691An Electrical Installation Condition Report, or EICR. It inspects and tests the existing wiring and grades anything that falls short of current standards. On its own, an EICR is priced between £175 and £350, with larger properties at the upper end. If we are changing the board, it costs £99 at the same visit, and we email the report to you.
If the new board is moving only a short distance, such as higher on the same wall or into a nearby cupboard, relocation adds £250 to the board price. That covers extending the circuits neatly to the new position. A board moved on its own, without replacement, is a standalone relocation at £395, confirmed from your photos.
We keep disturbance to a minimum. Usually the new board goes where the old one was, using the existing cable routes, so walls are not touched. Where a cable has to be extended or a fixing made in fragile plaster, we choose the least visible route and talk it through with you before we drill anything.

A board mounted low on the wall is worth pointing out. Photograph it, add a note, and send both to 0333 360 8691; a price for the Botolphs house is then fixed and sent back.
