Each project tends to add a circuit or two, and on older boards those extra circuits are often doubled up on one fuse or fed from a small box fixed beside the main one.
We bring everything onto a single metal consumer unit with properly sized protection for each circuit, label it clearly and test the full installation. If the board sits somewhere awkward, such as low in a cupboard or high on a garage wall, we can move it at the same visit for an extra £250.

Some were installed with too little protection at the house end; others were simply taken from a socket circuit. Call 0333 360 8691A dual RCD board costs from £425, but one fault on it can switch off half the house. Spend from £625 on an 8 way full RCBO board and only the faulty circuit goes off, leaving the freezer, heating and lights elsewhere running. In a larger, extended home, many people decide the difference is worth it.
Someone needs to let us in, show us the board and any outbuildings, and be around at the end so we can talk through the results and the new labels. In between, you are free to go out. Allow four to six hours for most boards; if anything changes, we keep you updated by phone.
Usually, yes. When we fit a new board we can relocate it for an extra £250, extending the circuits and meter tails to a handier spot such as a hall cupboard. The meter itself belongs to your energy supplier, so if that needs to move as well, we explain how to arrange it.
