Scattered homes with boards of every vintage
With only a handful of houses spread across farmland, Warminghurst has no estate of matching boards. Each property has been rewired, extended or partly updated at different times, so we might find a 1970s fuse box with rewireable fuses in one house and a crowded 1990s unit in the next, sometimes with a second board added for an extension.
We trace and label every circuit, test the earthing and the bonding to water and any oil or gas pipework, and only then fit the new board. If anything in the existing wiring fails testing, you hear about it with photos and a price, not as a surprise on the bill.
- Circuits traced before work starts
- Bonding to oil or gas pipes checked
- Old add-on boards combined into one
- Faults shown to you with photos

Overhead lines, earth rods and surge protection
Out in open country like this, electricity often arrives on overhead lines carried on wooden poles across the fields. Those lines are exposed to lightning and storm damage, and many rural properties fed this way rely on their own earth rod rather than an earth provided by UK Power Networks, an arrangement known as TT.
On a TT supply the RCDs do the real work of protecting you, and the earth rod has to give a low enough reading for them to operate. We measure it on every job. The Type 2 surge protection we fit as standard also helps guard electronics against spikes from switching and nearby lightning.
- Earth rod resistance measured
- RCD protection on every circuit
- Type 2 surge device included
- Poor rod readings flagged and fixed
The route out to Warminghurst
We usually follow the A27 to Worthing and go up the A24 through Findon to the Washington roundabout, then north towards Ashington and onto the lanes, or come round by Storrington and Thakeham if that suits the day better. Travel is free. If you lose power, phone rather than text, because we aim to be with you the same day; everything else is booked from your photos.

Asked in Warminghurst
Call for a straight answer from an installer, not a call centre.
Call 0333 360 8691With a TT supply, your installation takes its earth from a metal rod sunk into the ground, rather than from the network operator's cable. You may see a green and yellow cable leaving the board or meter position and disappearing through the floor or an outside wall. Send us a photo of the meter area and we can usually tell you straight away.
It may be part of it, but often the RCD is doing its job because damp has got into an outside socket, light or buried cable. Older split load boards make this worse, as one fault switches off half the house. A full RCBO board isolates only the faulty circuit, and our testing usually pins down where the leak is.
The overhead line, the pole and the service cable up to your cut out belong to UK Power Networks. If a line is down, leaning or damaged, call 105, the national power cut number, and keep well clear. Everything on your side of the meter is your installation, and that is where we work.
